KARACHI, May 15: A man was shot dead on Wednesday in what police claimed an encounter with two suspects in the Tipu Sultan police limits.

Police said that two constables were on duty near Duty Free Shop when they noticed two suspects roaming around. They# signalled them to stop, the two suspects fled on foot and disappeared in the streets. As the two police officials started to look for them, one of the suspects opened fire at them. The policemen returned fire injuring the suspect identified as Sham Khan, aged 25.

Police claimed to have arrested the victim’s accomplice, identified as Mohammad Akram, aged 20. The injured was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he died during treatment, police said. They recovered a pistol and three bullets from their possession.
