HYDERABAD, Feb 11: An unskilled worker of the Jamshoro thermal powerhouse, Hazrat Iqbal Ahmed Pathan, was gunned down on Wednesday by two motorcyclists in an apparent incident of target-killing near the recreational centre of the powerhouse’ residential colony.

Sources said that Pathan had married a girl of Bugti clan, which had greatly infuriated the girl’s relatives although her father was not against the marriage.

The target-killing spread panic and harassment in the colony and hundreds of powerhouse employees held a demonstration against the murder.

Sajan Panhwar, a union leader, criticised authorities for making no security arrangements in the colony.

Jamshoro police rushed to the place and removed the body to the Liaquat University Hospital Hyderabad branch for post-mortem.

No case was registered till the filing of this report.
