LAHORE, Jan 29: Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Ali Ahmad Kurd has said lawyers will remove all the hurdles in the restoration of chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and other deposed judges on March 9.
He said this at a meeting of the Lahore Bar Association held at the Aiwan-i-Adl here on Thursday. Rana Zia Abdul Rehman chaired the meeting. Mr Kurd said all sections of society were supporting the movement of the lawyers for the restoration of an independent judiciary because they were fed up with lawlessness, inflation and unemployment.
He said people should join the movement because they were struggling for the restoration of the rule of law in the country. He said the movement was destined to succeed because they were continuing it for the past two years with commitment.
The lawyers marched to the Punjab Assembly Chambers via Shahrah-i-Quaid-iAzam after the meeting. Workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-N, Tehrik-i-insaaf, Khaksar Tehrik, Labour Party and Jamaat-i-Islami also joined the procession. Lahore High Court Bar Association members joined the rally from the GPO Chowk.
