KARACHI: Water line bursts

Published January 27, 2009

KARACHI, Jan 26: A 72-inch-diameter water supply line burst on Monday at the Dhabeji pumping station, causing massive water leakage.

However, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board announced that the water supply to the metropolis would continue through alternative lines. The repair work on the line that started immediately afterwards would not affect water supply to the city, the KWSB said, adding that the work would be finalised soon.

According to the KWSB, the leakage was caused by a power breakdown at the Dhabeji pumping station.—PPI
