ALPURI, Jan 14: The acting postmaster of Shangla quit his job after receiving threats from Taliban causing severe hardships for the local people, who couldn’t receive or send their mails and parcels anymore.

Taliban have threatened the postmaster to resign from his service as they consider government job ‘un-Islamic’. Justifying their decision, they said: “The government is still following into the footsteps of their masters in US and other western states.”

The road link between Swat and Shangla has been disconnected owing to the military operation and Taliban actions in the restive Swat valley. The untimely resignation of the postmaster has hit hard the local people. The worst sufferers are the local students whose admission forms for the annual examination could not be reached the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar.

The students feared that they would not be able to take their upcoming annual examination of the board. They have demanded of the government to make sure that their precious time should not be wasted.
