LAHORE, Jan 12: A 60-year-old watchman was found murdered at an under-construction house near Umer Chowk in Green Town on Monday.
The Green Town Circle DSP told Dawn the police reached the spot on the call of a woman that her husband had been killed with a gunfire by unidentified people.
He said police found the man, identified as Sadiq of Theeng Mor, Kasur, dead with a deep wound in his forehead.
The initial body examination suggested that the old man was hit repeatedly with a blunt weapon or some hard object which belied the claim of his wife, he said.
Quoting the woman, the DSP said she went to her factory for work in the morning but on her return at about 4pm she found her husband dead. The DSP said Sadiq, a father of eight, had been living along with his 40-year-old wife in the under-construction house of a lawyer, Anjum, for the last two months.
He said according to Anjum, Sadiq spent little time in his temporary room because of watch and ward duty, but his body was recovered from a charpoy lying in his room.—Staff Reporter
