SANGHAR, Jan 11: Two farmers were killed and three others injured in an armed clash over irrigation water on Sunday in Budho Chandio village.

Wali Mohammad Chandio, 20, was killed allegedly by members of Jamali community while he was irrigating his land.

When the body of the deceased was brought to his village, enraged youths of the Chandio community attacked the nearby Jamali village as a result of which Soomar Jamali, 45, was killed while Mohammad Khan, Zakir and Manak, all members of the Jamali community, sustained injuries. The attackers also took away cattle belonging to the Jamalis. The injured were shifted to taluka hospital and PMC Nawabshah.

The area is in the grip of panic as armed people of the two communities have started reaching their strongholds. The Shahdadpur police have established pickets to avoid any bloodshed.
