LAHORE, May 13: The rising temperature and have resulted in increasing flow in rivers with Indus at Tarbela having 60,500 cusecs and Jhelum at Mangla touching 57,500 cusecs on Monday.
Chenab at Marala, meanwhile, flowed at 46,800 cusecs and Kabul at Nowshehra 33,500 cusecs taking the total inflow in the rivers to 198,300 cusecs. Out of this 57,300 cusecs was held in storages and 141,000 cusecs released for irrigation.
The water level at Tarbela stood at 1,369.72 ft above sea level, slightly above its dead level of 1,369 ft and at 1,138.65 ft at Mangla, nearly 100 ft above the dead level of 1,040 ft. The optimum level at Tarbela is 1,550 ft and at Mangla 1,202 feet.
At Jinnah Barrage 92,500 cusecs water was flowing in and 86,500 cusecs being released. Chashma Barrage received 79,000 cusecs and released 65,000 cusecs. Taunsa Barrage had an inflow of 50,900 cusecs and outflow of 38,400 cusecs. Guddu Barrage had an inflow of 26,900 cusecs and outflow of 21,400 cusecs. Sukkur barrage received 21,000 cusecs and released 5,400 cusecs. Kotri Barrage received 4,700 cusecs and there was no outflow. —Staff Reporter
