ISLAMABAD, Jan 7: The Inter-Services Intelligence is fully supportive of the government’s stated policy on the issue of drone attacks inside Pakistan’s territory, a spokesman for the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Wednesday.
Referring to an interview of Director General ISI Lt-Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha published in Der Spiegel and reported in the local media, he said some important issues had either been reported out of context or incorrectly constructed as a result of mistranslation.
The conversation with Der Spiegel took place on Dec 12 last year when environment was different from what it is today.
Some of the things reported were either incongruous or had not been clearly stated, he said.
The ISPR spokesman said that ISI director general’s views about handling of Al Qaeda and other terrorists had been reported incorrectly.
“Our stance on the issue of terrorism is in line with the policy of the government. There is no question of any sympathy or dealing with irreconcilable elements fighting Pakistan and its allies.”
