PESHAWAR, Jan 7: Police on Wednesday said a minor boy kidnapped for ransom from a wedding party in the Chamkani area on Dec 27, had been recovered.

Speaking at a press conference at Malak Saad Khan Police Lines here, Rural Circle SP Nasirul Mulk Bangash said three kidnappers had also been arrested.

He said the kidnappers had demanded Rs2.5 million for release of the seven-year-old Imad Ali Shah, son of Iftikhar Ali Shah. He identified the arrested accused as Imran, Mohtaram and Munawar Shah.

The SP said the main accused was Ejaz, who used to call relatives of the boy for ransom. Ejaz, also absconder in a murder case, is still at large.

He said police traced the kidnappers through the cellphone number they used while calling the victim family.

He said the boy was recovered on Jan 6, who had been kept in a room which had a television set.

“They were giving me food and had asked me to watch cartoon on television all the time, but I was weeping for being away from my parents,” said the boy. He said he was happy when the accused let him talk to his father on phone.

A kidnapping case against the accused was registered under section 365-A of the
