LAHORE, Jan 6: Arrangements were reviewed to ensure provision of clean drinking water to Lahorites round the clock on the 9th and 10th of Muharram at a meeting of the Water and Sanitation Agency of the Lahore Development Authority on Tuesday.

Presiding over the meeting, Wasa Managing Director Dr Javed Iqbal asked the deputy managing director (operations and maintenance) to keep a close liaison with the Lesco higher-ups for uninterrupted electricity supply to tubewells.

Water tankers should be kept ready in all towns so that in case of power breakdown, the same could be despatched to the affected locality.

Leaves of all the operations staff had been cancelled for Jan 7 and 8 and the number of employees at the complaint cells increased so that the cells remain functional round the clock. Complaints regarding sewerage or water supply can be lodged at Wasa’s toll-free telephone number 1334.

Special arrangements have been made on the route of the main Zuljinnah to minimise chances of any choked sewerage or drinking water shortage while all the damaged covers of manholes would be replaced.
