11 arrested for urea black-market

SIALKOT, Jan 6: Police arrested on Tuesday 11 traders on the charge of creating artificial shortage of fertiliser and selling urea, the most-needed commodity these days, at exorbitant rates.

The district administration launched a drive against fertiliser dealers at Daska, Satrah, Mianwali Bangla, Dharam Kot and Kotli Naushera.

They arrested 11 traders, including Jamil Ahmad, Muhammad Rizwan, Jamshaid Ahmad Sindhu, Mukhtar Ahmad, Jaffar Ali, Iqbal Ahmad and Khalid Mahmood, who allegedly were selling urea for Rs850 a bag against the official rate of Rs665.

On the report of Daska DDO (Revenue) Fiaz Ahmad Mohal, the Daska police registered cases against the dealers under the Price Control Act.

POs’ BODIES: Pasrur police on Tuesday handed over the bodies of three proclaimed offenders who were killed in an encounter with police to their heirs for burial.

Proclaimed offenders Afzal, Ahmad Din and Dilawar Husain were killed in a shootout with the Pasrur police near Qila Kalarwala early on Monday morning.
