KARACHI, Jan 6: A woman suffered burn injuries in her house in Quaidabad on Tuesday.

Police said the woman, later identified as Tauseef, was reportedly in the kitchen of the house situated near Green Park in Quaidabad when her clothes caught fire.

The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital and admitted there for treatment. Hospital sources said the woman had suffered 65 per cent burns.

Police are investigating the case to ascertain if it was an accident.

‘Women gangsters’

Police have busted a 12-member gang of women for their involvement in house robberies in different parts of the city, and in Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta and Peshawar.

Police said that, acting on a tip-off, they arrested the women in Bhitai Abad, near the airport. The gang’s ring leader, Rehana, was also arrested in the raid. Police seized jewellery worth several hundred thousand rupees from them.

Police said the gang members pretended to work as maids in different houses and later robbed the houses.

The gang had carried out house robberies in the Defence Housing Authority, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Safari Park, Hyderi, Nazimabad and Gulberg areas of the city. — Staff Reporter
