KARACHI, May 13: A bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Justice Rana Bhagwandas, Justice Syed Deedar Hussain Shah and Justice Hamid Ali Mirza, granted on Monday leave to appeal to a convict.

Khawaja Naveed, counsel for Ms Mah Khatoon, who had been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment with a fine of Rs100,000, pleaded her case. The appellant was arrested by the Anti-narcotic Force in the police limits of Chakiwara following the recovery of one kg heroin powder in March 2000. She was tried and sentenced by ANF court judge Ali Nawaz Pirzada.
