Sharafi Mohammadan triumph

KARACHI, Jan 3: District Malir champions Sharafi Mohammadan beat Nazimabad FC 2-1 to begin round 14 of KASB Premier League Football (PLF) on a high note at the CDGK Stadium on Friday.

The losing outfit scored first when their frontrunner Hameed Afridi converted a pass from midfielder Ali Murad Babu in the 35th minute. But parity was restored soon after by Sharafi’s skipper and midfielder Abdul Rasheed in the 45th minute when his corner kick could not be blocked in time by Nazimabad FC’s keeper Dilawar Khan.

The 51st minute saw Nazimabad FC’s substitute striker Naveed Gul being sent off the field after being shown the red card by match referee Yunus Lal. He will have to sit out the next match.

The decider came in the 72nd minute when striker Abdul Haleem scored off a pass from Abdul Rasheed. This was top-scorer Haleem’s 18th goal in the event. With just 16 matches remaining, Sharafi Mohammdan are leading with 33 points.
