LOS ANGELES, Jan 3: Roy Saari, a former world record-holding swimmer and gold medallist at the 1964 Olympics, has died. He was 63. Saari died on Tuesday in Mammoth Lakes, California, the University of Southern California announced on Friday. No cause of death was given.
Saari set four world records in his career, including a time of 16 minutes, 58.7 seconds in the 1,500-metre freestyle that was the first mark below 17 minutes in the event.—AP
