‘Encounter’

SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 2: A dacoit was killed in an encounter with Ferozewala police and another was arrested while their two accomplices managed to escape on Friday.

Reports said that four outlaws, after setting up a picket near Kala Shah Kaku on the GT Road, were looting commuters and pedestrians. Receiving information, the police reached the spot, but the bandits opened fire on them. In a retaliatory fire, outlaw Yasin was killed on the spot while police managed to arrest Imran alias Billu while their two other accomplices escaped from the scene.

The arrested dacoit disclosed that they were residents of Chuchaak village, Okara district, and had committed dozens of highway robberies.

Further investigation is under way.

COMMITS SUICIDE: A 16-year-old girl committed suicide by shooting herself in Nai Bhani village near Sharaqpur on Friday.

Reports said that deceased’s father Javed Bhatti had reprimanded her over some domestic issue. Sharaqpur police have handed the body over to her parents.
