MIRPURKHAS, Jan 2: Acting on a court’s order, police raided a brick kiln and recovered 13 bonded labourers, including women, from the captivity of the owner of the kiln.
Thanji Kolhi had on Thursday submitted an application in the district and sessions court, Mirpurkhas, stating that his 13 relatives, including women, had been detained at the brick kiln of Nazar Mohammad Pathan situated on Sindhri road near Mirpur minor.
He said that forced labour work was being taken from them and they were not allowed to move outside the brick kiln premises. The court ordered the area police to conduct a raid on the kiln, recover the bonded labourers and produce them in court. SHO Khuda Bux Panhwar along with a police party raided the brick kiln and recovered 13 bonded labourers. The labourers were identified as Lalio, Shremiti Dharmi, Shremti Meera, Gango, Shremiti Rani, Shremti Soomri, Dhanji, Dastori, Aandio, Chetan, Shremti Kawita, Pappu and Shremti Aemran. On Friday, police produced them in court of second additional sessions judge Mirpurkhas who after hearing allowed them to go anywhere they wished.
PROTEST: Members of the Tehrik Nifaz-i-Fiqah Jafria, Jafria Students Organization and Shia Ulema Council took out a rally from railway station chowk here on Friday to protest against long unannounced power load-shedding.
Protesters carried banners and placards, marched through main roads of the city and raised slogans against the Hesco chief. Addressing the protesters, Dr Saqib Kazmi and Ziaul Hassan Naqvi condemned the Hesco chief for unannounced load-shedding of long duration even during Moharram. They said that it was a deep conspiracy to defame the government.
They alleged that the Hesco chief wanted to create law and order problem. They threatened to launch a protest drive if this practice continued. They said if load-shedding was not stopped, all the mourn processions would be stopped throughout Pakistan. Later, they burnt the effigy of Hesco chief.
