Explosives found in cylinder

LAHORE, Dec 31: Police on Wednesday found explosives in a gas cylinder, wires and a cell phone connector near the Township police station.

Township Station House Officer Khalid Mahmood Farooqi told Dawn that Assistant Sub-Inspector Arshad found a gas cylinder and wires in bushes at Sadiq Chowk, 500 metres from the police station, and informed the Bomb Disposal Squad.

The Bomb Disposal Squad checked the cylinder, found five kilogram explosives in it and defused it. He said explosives could have been used for sabotage. He said a case had been registered against unidentified people under the Explosives Act. Sadar Division SP Mansoorul Haq said approximately three kilo explosive powder was filled in the cylinder.
