KARACHI, Dec 30: Additional District and Sessions Judge (west) Ahmed Saba on Tuesday sentenced a man to four years in prison in a robbery case.

The judge pronounced his verdict after recording the final arguments of the defence and the prosecution counsel.

The court found accused Allah Bux guilty of committing the burglary in a house in the limits of Mominabad police station in 2004.

The court in its judgment observed that the prosecution had produced ample evidence and witnesses against the accused and successfully proved its case beyond any shadow of doubt.

According to the prosecution, the accused, along with his two absconding accomplices, had entered the house of the complainant, Fareed Khan, in Faqir Colony on Dec 19, 2004. They took him and his family hostage at gunpoint and fled after looting cash and valuables.

A case was registered against the accused under Sections 392, 393 and 397/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code at Mominabad police station on the complaint of Fareed Khan. However, a few months later, the police had arrested accused Allah Bux.

The convict was already in custody and remanded back to the prison to serve the remainder of his sentence with the benefit of Section 382-B (period of detention to be considered while awarding sentence of imprisonment) of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Suspect remanded

The Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate (east), Inam Ali Kalhoro, remanded a suspect in police custody till Jan 3 on charges of a double murder case.

According to the prosecution, watchmen Ghulam Asghar, 38, and Tahir Mehmood Qureshi, 32, were found shot dead in a bungalow in Block-6 of the PECHS on Dec 25. Both the victims had received a single bullet to the head.

The police arrested the suspect, Abdul Amir Hussain, on Dec 29 as the brother of deceased Ghulam Asghar informed the police that the suspect had threatened his brother of dire consequences a few days back over a dispute and he could be involved in the case.

A case was registered under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Ferozabad police station on the complaint of Ghulam Asghar’s bother.
