IMO honours Pakistani mariner

KARACHI, Dec 30: The Secretary General of International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has extended the tenure of Capt Anwar Shah, the governor World Maritime University for another two years from January 19, 2009 to January 18, 2011.

Capt Shah is the first Pakistani to be elected to this elevated stature in 2005 and 2007 and now he is also first to have been elected third time, an honour for the country.

He has worked as director general Ports and Shipping and chairman Gwadar Port. Presently, he works as marine consultant and CEO of Alexander Hamilton Inc. USA.

Capt Shah writes regularly on maritime sciences locally and aboard, says a press release.
