TANDO MOHAMMAD KHAN, Dec 29: A large number of growers who worked at the Red Sindhi Cattle Farm held a demonstration here on Monday in protest against the farm management, accusing it of denying them share in land produce.

The protesters’ leaders Mohammad Amin Zounr and comrade Gul Hassan Khaskheli said that the management had not only failed to pay them Rs300,000 of last year but it had also denied them share in current year’s produce.

They said they had been working at the farm spread over 1,500 acres since 1995 but the farm officials had now stopped them from harvesting the sugarcane crop, for which they had taken loans to buy fertiliser, seed and other inputs.

Furthermore, they had threatened them with dire consequences if they did not vacate their residences on the farm land, they alleged. They appealed to the chief minister and authorities concerned to solve their problem and warned of observing hunger strike unto death if the government failed to rein in the management.

PANIC: People in a locality near railway station in Tando Allahyar were panicked late on Sunday night when a group of narcotics dealers suddenly started firing in the air, resulting in injuries to a pedestrian.

Police moved to the area and rounded up 11 people after conducting raids on different places. They also found a large quantity of narcotics as well as arms and ammunition in their possession.

Police have registered cases under anti-narcotics laws and arms ordinance against the accused.

MUHARRAM: Tando Mohammad Khan DPO Attaullah Chandio on Monday presided over a meeting of senior police officers to finalize security arrangements for Muharram. The DPO said that a fool-proof security plan had been prepared to maintain law and order at the venues of Majalis and mourning processions.
