KARACHI, Dec 29: Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman has directed the Additional Chief Secretary of the Local Government, Ghulam Ali Shah Pasha, to submit comprehensive proposals for the establishment of a building control authority at the provincial and at the district level on the pattern of the Karachi Building Control Authority.

He said that the proposals should reach him within a week. The objective for the establishment of the institutions at the provincial and district levels was to check illegal construction and use of substandard material in the construction of buildings at the initial stage, he said.

The chief secretary was speaking at a meeting held here on Monday to review the issues pertaining to the local government department.—APP
