MIRPURKHAS, Dec 28: A preliminary report of the autopsy on the bodies of two women, who were killed by an exorcist and his accomplices in Qadir Bux Behrani village of the Kot Ghulam Mohammad area, has confirmed that they were tortured to death.

The head of the special medical board, Dr Saleem Raza Memon, told journalists that bones of Fatima and Sakina were found broken and sensitive organs bore marks of torture.

The Kot Ghulam Mohammad police produced five accused, Niaz Hussain Behrani, Aijaz Ali Behrani, Abdul Kareem Behrani, Basheer alias Mir Khan and ASI Khadim Hussain Behrani, on Friday before the civil judge and judicial magistrate Kot Ghulam Mohammad, who remanded them to police custody for six days.

The investigation police have failed to nab the co-accused, Nazar Behrani, Arbab Behrani, Talib Behrani and Allah Bux Behrani.

Medical examination of another woman, Nazeeran, wife of Mureed Behrani, who suffered injuries during ‘exorcism’ confirmed that she had been tortured.

Journalists of Kot Ghulam Mohammad and Samaro, including Jay Ram Malhi, Mohammad Farooque Kaimkhani and Datir Bux, said they had received threats of dire consequences from the relatives of the accused. They said the journalists had held a demonstration demanding protection.

The double murder took place on Dec 14 and a formal case was lodged with the police on Dec 19 on the complaint of Nabi Bux Behrani. The autopsy was conducted on December 22 in Mir Khan Behrani graveyard after exhumation of the bodies.
