KHAR, Dec 26: One person was killed and nine others were injured, including two security personnel, in a rocket attack on a colony here on Friday.

Officials said four rockets had been fired from the hilltop, which hit the colony housing offices and barracks of paramilitary forces. They said one missile hit a pickup truck loaded with passengers on the bypass road near the colony.

One girl was killed in the vehicle and seven others received injuries. Another rocket hit a makeshift post of the Levies in which two security personnel suffered injuries.

The injured were taken to the Agency Headquarters Hospital where doctors said the condition of two was serious.

This was the first rocket on the Khar town since security forces launched the operation in Bajaur in August last.

An official said militants had fired the rockets from Kohi More, a hilltop in the Barang subdivision.
