ISLAMABAD, Dec 25: Police have seized a large quantity of explosives from a house in Kural area and arrested a number of people.

Superintendent of Police Saqib Sultan said at a press conference that the house had been raided on a tip and 650kgs of explosives, 520 detonators, dynamites, gunpowder and ammonium nitrate had been seized.

He said police were looking for another three suspects and trying to find out how the explosives had been brought to the federal capital. He admitted that the fact that such a large quantity of explosives had been brought to the city indicated a security lapse.

Sources said the explosives had been stored in a house owned by one Sekhi who had rented out a portion to Saeed Khan and Musa Khan who were missing.
