Canal breach floods crop

Published December 21, 2008

SUKKUR, Dec 20: A village and newly-sown wheat crop over 200 acres came under water when a 30-feet breach developed in Masso Minor canal near Qabool Haiderani village in the Mirpur Mathelo area on Saturday.

Affected villagers told local newsmen that they had informed irrigation officials about the vulnerability of the embankments of the canal but they did not pay heed and still were nowhere to be seen.

However, the villagers plugged the breach.
