Fire destroys army workshop

RAWALPINDI, Dec 19: A huge fire destroyed a military workshop in Chaklala garrison late on Friday night, sources told Dawn.

The fire was raging despite attempts by firefighters to control the inferno for more than one hour.

Witnesses said the fire had erupted in the Army’s 501 Workshop around midnight and shortly engulfed a large part of the building.,

Flames and thick plumes of smoke could be seen from miles away. However, there were no reports of casualties. Fire engines from Islamabad were also called to put out the fire.

The cause could not be ascertained. Till the filing of this report, firefighters were struggling to control the flames despite a downpour in the city.
