Operation against illegal structures

Published December 18, 2008

MIANWALI, Dec 17: The district administration has begun removing encroachments from Jinnah Colony on PAF Road.

Officials accompanied by police demolished encroachments, including a few multi-storey buildings, in the vicinity.

The colony was established under a three-marla scheme initiated by the Junejo government in 1985. Even though the sale or transfer of plots was illegal, the owners sold their plots to businessmen. These constructions were not sanctioned by the Tehsil Municipal Administration. DCO Wasim Ajmal Chaudhry said they had issued notices to encroachers grabbing state land to vacate the land or face demolition. — Correspondent
