KARACHI, Dec 14: Picking up from where he had left, favourite three-year-old chestnut colt Giranari galloped to a facile 11 lengths’ victory to justify the confidence reposed in him as another favourite filly After Shock landed The Eid-ul-Azha Cup in the Gymkhana race meeting on Sunday.

It was yet another day for form horses as at least half a dozen obliged punters in a card of nine at the Karachi Racecourse.

With a hat-trick already under his belt, Giranari kept his winning run intact by getting the better of mare Royal Loyalty as he pleased. The colt from the stables of Pir Pagara was partnered by Essa and saddled by Sher Mohammad.

Filly Moon dazzler settled for third, three lengths behind while colt Dark Secret completed the frame.

Fancied two-year-old chestnut filly After Shock added a feather to her cap when she edged colt Group Captain by neck to claim The Eid-ul-Azha Cup and make it two on trot. He was sprinted home by Nasir.

Filly Lil Kimm had to be content with third place further beaten by two lengths while Shooter finished fourth.

Nasir completed the double when he piloted home four-year-old bay colt Inside Story to his maiden win in the last race. With an exception, the colt has finished off the board in successive runs and was favourite after being backed by connection.

He beat filly Novaho’s Glory by four-and-a-half lengths.

Another favourite chestnut Hamza Joy and bay Canon Ball overcame complacency by storming to stunning victories in lower divisions.

Second favourite seven-year-old bay Manan Prince repeated his winning act posting five lengths’ victory over colt Discreet Cat with Fahim K in the saddle.

Three outsiders who picked up spoils were Native Queen, Silver City and Dilruba.

Jockey Essa also matched his contemporary Nasir’s double. Besides Giranari, he steered Dilruba to an emphatic eight lengths’ victory.

Meanwhile, the next Gymkhana race meeting will be held on Wednesday.
