TANDO MOHAMMAD KHAN, Dec 13: Following an armed clash between the Sirhandi and the Noonari communities on Friday, the situation took a serious turn on Saturday when the police raided the Noonari house and arrested around 20 persons.

Those rounded up included a central leader of the Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party, Dr Ahmed Noonari, Basheer Noonari, Inayat Ali, Hidayat, Mohammad Ali, and others.

No case was registered against the arrested people till the filing of this report.

The situation remained tense in Tando Mohammad Khan as the Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party has given a call to observe shutter down on Sunday in Tando Mohammad Khan.

Meanwhile, the chairman STP, Dr Qadir Magsi, and central leaders Nandlal Malhi, Hyder Shahani, Dr Abdul Hameed Memon and others have condemned the arrest of Dr Ahmed Noonari and others.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, they said that the Sirhandis had attacked the house of Ahmed Noonari with firearms but instead of arresting the culprits, the police had arrested the victims.

They said that the police was destroying the peaceful atmosphere of Tando Mohammad Khan and warned that if the arrested persons were not released, protest demonstrations would be held throughout Sindh.

Police sources said that during the raid, police had recovered arms and ammunition from the possession of the Noonaris.
