LAHORE, Dec 5: Reacting to reports that the PML-N is trying to occupy the Muslim League House on Davis Road, the PML-Q has approached the Punjab chief secretary and the inspector-general of police for seeking security and bringing the issue on record.

Alleging that a ‘group of land-grabbers’ was planning taking control of the Muslim League House in the garb of PML-N Youth’s Wing activists, Punjab PML-Q Secretary-General Chaudhry Zaheeruddin said PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and Zulfikar Ali Khosa would be held responsible if any “illegal” attempt was made to occupy the house.

He said the title of the house was in the name of Punjab PML (known in the media as PML-Q) and thus the PML-N had no claim over it.

New constructions costing millions of rupees out of party fund had been carried out on the premises, he added. Zaheer alleged that Khosa had formed a committee to materialise the plan.

Seeking protection and adequate security against any untoward incident, he also demanded action against those who were being blamed for planning to occupy the property.

He believed that the plan had possibly been revealed to the media to see reaction of the party and the general public.

Another PML-Q office-bearer, who requested not to be named, claimed that control of the Muslim League House had been handed over to the PML-Q by Khwaja Saad Rafiq, a PML-N leader, in 2001 after the PML-Q was launched.

According to him, the firing incident reported in the media at that time was just a ploy to deceive the people and give an impression as if the change of control was made possible at gunpoint.

Earlier in April, the party had alleged that the PML-N used police to occupy the building. Zaheer and others had claimed that a police team headed by the Racecourse station house officer raided the Muslim League House and ordered the PML-Q workers to vacate the property or face cases. — AM
