ISLAMABAD, Dec 3: Pakistan Muslim League-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain proposed on Wednesday that an international commission be set up under the UN Security Council to determine causes of terrorism in Pakistan, India and Afghanistan and durable solution of the menace.

Addressing a news conference, he said that countries affected by terrorism needed a commission to resolve such issues.

The PML-Q chief said that India should stop accusing the Inter Services Intelligence of being behind everything happening in that country. He said that national security advisers of the two countries should discuss the matter and propose necessary steps to their governments to curb terrorism.

Asked whether political parties would support every action taken by the government to meet the threat to national security, Chaudhry Shujaat said the government should inform the parties before taking any step.

He criticised what he called the irresponsible role played by the Indian media and said that if Indian government had any concrete evidence against Pakistan, it should come up with it.

The PML-Q chief praised the government for convening an all-party conference on national security and said that such a conference had been called 20 years ago by then prime minister Mohammad Khan Junejo.

He called for investigating incidents of violence in Balochistan and Karachi.

Chaudhry Shujaat said he had proposed to the government to hold a similar conference on internal security situation, especially in tribal areas by engaging tribal elders who, he hoped, would cooperate.
