KABUL, Oct 6: Following is a translation of a statement issued on Saturday by Mulla Mohammad Omar, supreme leader of the Taliban.

“A press statement by His Excellency Amir-ul-Momineen.”

“Those who have perpetrated the attacks in the United States have left no traces behind them.

“If the United States thinks that the hijackers were the real culprits then those men have been killed. No one will commit suicide on the orders of another or for the aims and interests of others.

“If it is not true, then (US President George) Bush should find a single person in America who is ready to kill himself. It will be better for America to search for the motives of the suicide attackers and the United States itself knows the remedy for this and no one else has the remedy.

“If someone says that someone else has the remedy for it, then he would not be telling the truth, and every other remedy would not be the remedy but rather would be a disaster.”—Reuters
