LAHORE, Dec 3: Fancied bay mare Miss Brave Heart blazed her way to her second successive victory, landing the over 1,000 metres feature event during the midweek Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

Stalking early pace setters, the mare from Unite out-of-Zeeshan Choice, Miss Brave Heart moved into contention from the sixth position after entering the straight chase and went on to win easily.

She beat chestnut mare Bird Fly by over two lengths while Jang Ju and Ice Burg completed the frame.

In all, 13 runners faced the starter after the last-minute withdrawal of bay colt Ajwa.

Miss Brave Heart had earlier won her maiden race on Sunday last. Trained by Rashid Latif, she was piloted by Naseer Ahmad.

A race earlier, dark bay colt Shan-e-Aamir stormed home to win the supporting and fifth race gone over 1,000 metres.

Ridden by the riding boy, M. Waseem, Shan-e-Aamir was trained by Aamir Rashid.

The colt beat Victory King by half-a-length. Murad King and Golden Falcon completed the board in a big field of 15 runners.

The four-year-old bay filly Miss Tabinda, who won the fourth race in a start to finish style, unchallenged, was the most outstanding performer of the day.

She registered her maiden success defeating Pretty Mehak by over six lengths.

Prior to the race, the dark bay mare Pretty Mehak opened a joint favourite with Miss Tabinda. However, Miss Tabinda was backed confidently by the connections from being even down to 30 and she justified the confidence reposed in her by the backers. By that time Pretty Mehak’s odds eased upward.

Alpha Juliet and Best Owner finished third and fourth, respectively.

The riding boys Sajjad Hussain and Naseer Ahmad stole the limelight by scoring a double each. The former brought in Raftar-e-Sehar and Anarkali in the first and second race while Naseer Ahmad rode Long shot Victory Tiger and odds-on favourite Miss Brave Heart in the third and sixth race.

The punters and bookmakers shared the proceedings evenly when three well-backed horses won in a card of six events.
