Jeweller deprived of Rs1.7m ornaments

KASUR, Dec 3: Two robbers deprived a jeweller of gold and silver ornaments worth Rs1.7 million in Kot Azam Khan locality in A-Division police precincts on Wednesday.

Two robbers entered the shop of Shaukat Ali and took him on gunpoint. They collected 70-tola gold and 25-tola silver ornaments and his cell phone. They also thrashed Ali when he put up resistance and then fled.

This was the second incident of its kind in the last couple of days in the same police limits.

Goldsmiths later held a meeting at Shahbaz Jewellers in Faisal Bazaar which was presided over by Afzal Khokhar. The participants expressed their concern over the deteriorating security situation and decided observing a strike on Thursday (today).

Kot Azam Anjuman-i-Tajran President Muhammad Liaquat also announced joining the jewellers in their strike.

ACCIDENT: A motorcyclist was killed when a speeding car hit him near bypass in Pattoki city police precincts on Wednesday.

Masood Hasan was on his way from Pattoki to Kot Radha Kishan when a car driven by Kausar Bibi, of Ravi Road, Lahore, hit him, leaving him injured. He succumbed to his injuries on his way to hospital.

SNATCHED: Four robbers deprived Ayub of his mini-truck when he was travelling on Manga-Kot Radha Kishan Road in Raiwind Sadar police precincts.

The robbers fled after tying Ayub with a rope and abandoning him on the road.
