Old enmity claims life

RAWALPINDI, Dec 3: A man was killed while another shot and injured by their rivals in Chontra while a woman was shot and injured by her ex-fiancé in the premises of Lahore High Court, Pindi Bench on Wednesday.

Mohammad Azad was on his way home along with Nawaz when his rivals opened fire on them. As a result Mr Nawaz was killed while his relative was injured.

The injured was removed to the District Headquarters Hospital where he is stated to be in stable condition.

Inspector Nazir Ahmed who is leading the investigation into the murder case said the motive behind the murder was old enmity. He said ten persons have been nominated as accused in the murder case; however none of them has been arrested.

Ms Rizwana Syed had come to Lahore High Court Pindi bench along with her husband Shafat Janjua with whom she had a court marriage in August 08, for recording her statement in the court of justice MA Zafar.

She had already requested the local police to provide her security as she feared for her life. A police constable Basit was guarding her during her presence in the court. As she was going towards the parking area, she was shot by her former fiancé Mustafa Syed.The gunman attempted to escape from the scene but he was overpowered by the police constable, while the injured victim was shifted to the DHQ hospital.
