MINGORA, Dec 1: Ten people were killed and 49 others injured when a suicide bomber blew up an explosive-laden truck near the Sangota security post, some seven kilometers north-east of here, on Monday.

Police said the truck got stuck in queues of vehicles near the checkpost on the Charbagh-Mingora road and the bomber detonated the explosives, killing 10 people, all of them civilians and a woman among them.

Two security personnel were among the 49 injured.

Police said the bomber was trying to ram his truck into the checkpoint, manned jointly by police and paramilitary and army troops.

One soldier was killed when a security convoy returning from a search operation in Qamber area was ambushed.

A masked man who had attacked the convoy was killed when security forces returned fire.
