Aftab lauds reduction in POL prices

Published December 2, 2008

LAHORE, Dec 1: PPP’s Punjab president Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan has hailed the federal government for providing much-needed relief to the masses by reducing prices of petroleum products.

In a statement on Monday, he recalled it was the third time during the eight-month rule of the PPP government that prices of the petroleum products had been reduced commensurate with the decline in rates in the international market.

Regretting that no segment of society had acknowledged the government’s efforts in this regard, he hoped the cut in prices would benefit urban and rural population alike. In urban areas, it would result in reduced cost of transportation while in the rural the use of diesel-run farm machinery would become more feasible, he added.

Mr Khan appealed to the people to make optimal and just use of energy sources to conserve them for coming generations.
