HYDERABAD, Nov 30: Activists of the Pakistan People’s Party and its different wings observed the party’s 41st founding day on Sunday in many districts and towns of the province.

The PPP’s Hyderabad chapter organised a programme at Basant hall. The speakers said that the PPP was synonymous with the unity of the poor, students, women and farmers of the country. No one could break nor weaken it as the party had been struggling for people’s rights and democracy, they said.

They said that dictators used all tactics to eliminate the PPP but they failed and the party always emerged stronger.

He said that the party leaders and workers had faced imprisonment and flogging. Asif Ali Zardari not only saved the party but also the country after the assassination of the party’s chairperson, he said.

The president of the Hyderabad chapter of Sindh People’s Youth Organisation held a separate programme in which a portrait of late chairperson Benazir Bhutto was placed on the dais.

The leaders of the organisation said that the PPP was established for the exploited and the poor and gave them their rights.

PPP-SB and SPSF-SB also organised a programme to mark the party’s founding day.

The secretary information of the party’s Sindh chapter, Peeral Majeedano, Abdul Majeed Siyal, Imran Shah and others said in their speeches that it was the party of martyrs who had nurtured it by laying down their lives. They said that Z.A. Bhutto had founded the PPP to get the people their fundamental rights and create awareness among them. His sacrifice and that of his daughter and sons would not go in vain.

In Khairpur, the activists observed the day at Wassan House. Fida Wassan, Manzoor Brohi AND Lala Ghaffar Shaikh said that the party’s political journey went through difficult times after the party’s chairman Z.A Bhutto had been hanged.

They said that many PPP workers had also sacrificed their lives during PPP’s long political journey. The workers cut a cake to mark day.

In Nawabshah, the day was observed at the party’s district office. District and taluka presidents MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio and Ziaul Hassan Lanjar paid tribute to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

In Larkana, the participants of the foundation day function renewed there pledge to carry forward the mission of the founder chairman and slain leader Ms Benazir Bhutto.

The heads of all sister organisations of the party and senior members eulogized what they termed unparalleled sacrifices laid down by Z.A. Bhutto, his daughter and sons for democracy.

They vowed that the PPP government would continue to serve people without any discrimination.
