Pakistan get 65th place

KARACHI, Nov 26: Pakistan men team finished at 65th spot in the 38th Chess Olympiad in Dresden, Germany, when they beat Nicaragua 3.5 – 0.5 in the 11th and final round.

Pakistan mustered 24 points to finish at the top in group ‘E’ and thus gained 65th position in the 152-nation championship.

Armenia retained their men title while the United States were runners-up and Israel finished third.

In the women category, Georgia won the Olympiad with Ukraine at second place and the US third. Pakistan women team secured 102nd position with 18.5 points.—APP
