KHAR, Nov 26: A tribal lashkar, which stopped its armed campaign after some of its leaders had been killed by militants, resumed activities in different areas of Mamond on Wednesday.

Members of the lashkar vowed to continue their struggle till the elimination of militants in their areas.

The decision to reactivate the lashkar was taken in Badan area where its chief Rehmatullah had been killed in a suicide attack a few days ago.

A large number of Barozai elders, including Rehmantullah’s son Musaffar Khan, Azizullah, Malak Shah Faisal Khan, Malak Gulzada, Malak Shahpur Khan and Malak Bakht Munir, attended the jirga which took the decision to resume anti-militant campaign.

Meanwhile, volunteers belonging to Barozai and Oryazai tribes started patrolling the areas where Taliban militants had attacked houses of several tribal elders and set houses on fire. They also started manning checkposts in Dabar, Badan, Owasha, Qandahar Baba, Shah Jor, Shalow, Shinowlai, and Badalai.

The jirga decided to increase the strength of the lashkar by inducting volunteers from other tribes.

It also decided to increase the number of checkposts.

Lashkar men arrested four suspected militants when they were trying to enter their area on Wednesday.
