FAISALABAD, Nov 24: Speakers at a seminar organised in connection with a five-day Lok Boli Mela on Monday stressed for pushing up efforts to save languages of the northern areas, some of which are on the verge of extinction.

The Frontier Language Institute organized the seminar on “Languages of Northern Areas” on fourth day of the mela at Jaranwala. Speakers said languages of northern areas were demanding immediate attention of literary personalities for the survival of these languages.

Another seminar on ‘Unemployment’ was arranged by the Berozgar Naujwan Tehreek Pakistan where speakers said that the socialist revolution was the only solution to the menace of unemployment.

Dr Azhar Ali of Gujrat, Sharif Raagi of Faisalabad, Fayyaz Ali Khan of Wazirabad, Sheeno Lal and Abbas Lohar also enthralled the audience with their musical performances.

Malik Abdul Haq, 97, of Bunga village, a childhood friend of Bhagat Singh, also visited the mela and shared with the audience his memories of the 1920’s. Although his eyesight was quite weak, Mr Haq spent several hours in the mela.

Seven other plays were performed while students of nine schools also presented various items of performing arts. The theatre play Chippan Ton Pehlan (before sunset) also concluded on the fourth day.
