KHA trials for NBP Junior Cup today

KARACHI, Nov 21: Under the directives of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), the Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) is holding open trials of club players to select a Karachi team for playing in the Under-21 National Bank Junior Cup hockey tournament which will be played at the Hockey Club of Pakistan from Nov 26 to Dec 4.

The tournament features prominent department and provincial teams, namely Pakistan International Airlines, National Bank of Pakistan, Habib Bank Limited, Pak Steel, Army, Wapda and NWFP, Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh. The Karachi team has been included due to the city’s hosting of the event.

The trials to be held at 3.00pm on Saturday at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi will be watched by the selection committee headed by Olympian Kamran Ashraf with international Arif Bhopali, Tasneem Usmani, Javed Iqbal and Arif Hayat as the members. All interested club players are requested to report to Arif Siddiqui and Saghir Hussain along with a copy of their birth certificates.

Final trials will take place on Sunday, to be followed by a press conference at 1.30pm at the HCP on Monday, called by the chairman organising committee Mohammad Farooq Khan, Organising Secretary Gulfraz Ahmed Khan, Tournament Director Javed Iqbal and KHA Media Coordinator Ghulam Mohammad Khan.
