FAISALABAD, Nov 21: With colourful presentations of children and scores of entertainment programmes, the five-day Punjab Lok Boli Mela began here on Friday in Jaranwala.

The fourth fair being organised by the Punjab Lok Sujag, a non-government organisation, has been dedicated to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, a freedom fighter and native of Jaranwala town.

Children of seven schools of different districts presented skits, tableaus, theater performances and poetry recitals. Up to 1,500 students and locals enjoyed the gala. Children of Government High School, Kasur, presented theater play ‘Jeebho Jani Di Kahani’, written by Farjad Nabi. The play highlighted environmental issues. Chogirda (all around) and Wapsi (the return) were other plays performed by Little Angel School of Faisalabad and Tameer-i-Millat School of Deepalpur.

Six theater performances by different theater groups of various universities also enthralled the participants besides a puppetry show and music performances by various folk singers.

A painting exhibition by schoolchildren was also the part of inaugural day. The Sanjhay Lok Organisation of Faisalabad arranged a seminar on Punjabi language. The Punjabi Qaumi Mahhaz also held a discussion on the same topic in Seminars' venue of Mela. Taameer Welfare Organization of Faisalabad held a discussion on Disability.
