ISLAMABAD, Nov 21: The government of Japan will establish a children’s hospital and Khyber Institute of Child Health in Peshawar.

A three-member delegation of Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) led by its Country Representative Tomoharu Otake during a meeting apprised the Minster for Health, Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, on Friday that their team will soon visit Peshawar for the purpose.

The delegation informed the minister that they would provide technical assistance for social welfare, special education and women development to promote social participation and empowerment in the Abbottabad District.

The delegation informed the minister that a team would soon arrive from Japan and coordinate with the District Government Abbottabad to prepare the project.

They apprised the minister that the Government of Japan was providing assistance to the Government of Pakistan for procurement of polio vaccine and training of doctors and nurses.

The team informed the minister that Japan was assisting the Government of NWFP for eradication of polio in four districts of the province. The team said that it was also providing assistance to the Government of Pakistan for up-gradation of National Institute of Health Laboratory.—APP
