LAHORE, Nov 20: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) will be organising a benefit match for former international hockey player Mohammad Irfan Sr in the last week of January 2009.

Besides taking part in the 1988 Champions Trophy at Lahore where the Pakistan team took the silver medal, Irfan represented Pakistan (1986 to 1992) as centre forward in 110 international matches.

The former player, who is serving as coach of the PIA hockey team for the last six years, said he was thankful to the federation for the honour.

The match is likely to be played in Karachi.—Agencies
