FAISALABAD, Nov 20: Divisional Commissioner Zahid Saeed has asked sugar mill owners to start crushing immediately so that farmers can sow wheat in their fields.

Chairing a meeting of farmers’ representatives, sugar mill owners and district coordination officers from Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh at his office on Thursday, Mr Saeed directed the officials to remove all illegal weighing spots and asked growers and millers to point out such points.

He said the Punjab government would protect the rights of growers in any way. He said millers should clear farmers’ outstanding dues. He asked millers not to park trolleys laden with sugarcane along roads.

Chairing another meeting on polio, the divisional commissioner asked health department officials to ensure polio vaccination of all children up to five year of age. He expressed his concern at six cases of polio in the district. —Staff Correspondent
