RAWALPINDI, Nov 20: A father and his son were shot dead by their rivals in Chontra, while a father of three committed suicide by shooting himself in his house in Loco Shed area on Thursday, police said.

Noor Khan, aged between 60 and 65, and his 32-year-old son Ghafran were shot dead by their rivals when negotiations between the two groups were going on to resolve a petty issue at Saeeda Bibi’s house.Police said Ghafran and Shahzad had a brawl some two days ago, but the issue was settled temporarily.

On Thursday, Noor Khan and his son Ghafran were called at Saeeda Bibi’s house where their rivals Mohammad Afzal, Mazhar Iqbal, Ziaullah and four other persons were already sitting.

Police said as they were discussing the issue, Afzal got infuriated and pulled out his pistol and fired on Ghafran and his father Noor Khan, killing them on the spot. The alleged killers escaped from the scene of the crime.

Meanwhile, Jilani Rehman, 25, a father of three, committed suicide by shooting himself in his house in Loco Shed after Wednesday midnight, police said.

The investigating officer said Jilani Rehman who dealt in auto-spare parts had been in distress since the court gave the custody of his children to their mother who he had divorced.

After midnight, he went into his room and committed suicide. On hearing the sound of a gunshot, his brother Hafeezur Rehman rushed to his room. The injured man was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the doctors.
