KARACHI, Nov 19: The Sports and Youth Affairs department, Sindh, on Wednesday constituted a seven-member regional committee under the Pakistan Sports Foundation Relief Fund (PSFRF).

According to a notification, to be headed by Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, the committee consists of Section Officer (sports) Sports and Youth Affairs department, Mohammad Saleem Shaikh (secretary), Director, Directorate of Sports, Sindh, Mohammad Hanif Mirchawala, Shah Mohammad Riazuddin, Syed Rahat Ali Shah, Iqbal Qasim and Mir Haider Ali Khan Talpur (members).

The committee is empowered to scrutinise applications of deserving sportspersons of the province for granting them assistance and making recommendations to the Pakistan Sports Foundation Relief Fund out of a revolving fund.

The committee’s tasks are: to give recommendations for extending proper medical facilities to the beneficiaries and their dependents; grant assistance in lump sum or on periodical basis or both to the beneficiaries in case of their serious illness or injury or in case of a serious illness, injury or death of their dependents; grant assistance in lump sum or on periodical basis or both to the dependents in case of death or permanent disability of the beneficiaries and grant annual scholarships to the eligible dependents of the beneficiaries for their educational requirements.

The Pakistan Sports Foundation Relief Fund was founded by the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) last year with a revolving fund of Rs0.5 million at the disposal of provincial regional committees.
